Welcome to Melbourne!
You've probably had a long flight, so we'll pick you up from the airport and take you straight to the hostel. You can check in and get some rest, because your unforgettable week with the group starts on Monday morning. This means you need to be in Melbourne by Sunday evening* at the latest.
Are you arriving a few days early? No problem! Airport pick-up is included and can be arranged for any day before the start of the tour at any time. Do you need extra nights? You can book these at check-out.
*In the high season (September to March) we also offer some additional tours that start on Thursday. Thursday is the day of arrival for these tours.
You'll meet your new travelling family first thing in the morning. After the meet and greet, we'll make sure you can enjoy the rest of your trip without any worries by organising your bank account, telephone number and tax number. Now you can relax and go exploring!
Afterwards, we'll take you on a guided walking tour of Melbourne, where you'll find out why so many travellers love this incredibly dynamic and laid-back city.
We end the day with a welcome dinner with the family by the famous Yarra River in the heart of the city.
Today we start thinking about what you're going to do next in Australia! Don't worry, you've got plenty of time to think through your options.
We're doing a presentation on work for anyone who is here on a working holiday visa or as a student. We'll cover everything you need to know to find a job.
You'll learn how to find work, how to create a CV and how to access your exclusive Welcome to Travel work resources. Job done.
Then it's time to chat about all things travelling! We'll tell you everything you need to know about travelling in this incredible country and which places you should definitely visit. We have plenty of experience and the best tips to help you make the most of your time here.
In the afternoon, we then delve deeper into Melbourne. We learn more about Naarm (Melbourne) on an informative Aboriginal Heritage Tour. And we explore Melbourne's famous laneways and street art! We end the day in Melbourne's Chinatown and have a bite to eat.
It's time for our epic overnight road trip! We're heading to Mornington Peninsula and Phillip Island, two of Australia's most beautiful regions.
Australia is famous for its surf culture, which is probably THE most quintessentially Australian activity of all. Today we offer you the opportunity to learn how to surf on a perfect beach for beginners.🤙
On this day, there are also a few hidden secrets to discover before we end the day with a sunset where we can watch the world's smallest penguins emerge from the sea and waddle across the beach. Yes, you read that right!
We spend the night on Phillip Island, where you'll wake up to the sounds of Australia's wildlife.
Today is going to be an epic day! We know you've been looking forward to seeing some of Australia's amazing kangaroos and koalas up close, and that's exactly what we're going to do today.
After lunch, we treat ourselves to a much-needed beach break before visiting some spectacular viewpoints. To round off our adventure, we sample some of our favourite local wines. From there, we turn up the music as we head back to Melbourne.
We can tick off so many points on our bucket list in two days!
Today you're going to plan your life in Australia. It's a big deal, but we've helped hundreds of travellers and look forward to helping you too.
Do you remember the presentations on the second day? Now it's time to put them into practice. You'll sit down with a member of the community team to talk about your plans for Australia, whether it's help finding farm work or questions about your CV. Or booking accommodation for next week or planning a whole adventure on the East Coast!
We are travel experts and can't wait to create the best personalised plan for your time in Australia.
All good things must come to an end - but not before we catch up over a farewell dinner. We'll swap stories, travel plans and Insta handles.
Then the weekend is all yours! We'll show you the best places to explore (you must go to St Kilda) and where to find the best nightlife.
