Overview

The TruTravels tour through Colombia has everything that makes Colombia so cool: legendary cities, cool street art, crazy landscapes, hot springs on volcanoes, coffee straight from the source and fantastic Caribbean beaches.

We start in Medellín. Think street art, local vibes and the surreal energy of Comuna 13, then we'll climb to El Peñol Rock to take in the breathtaking views and drink freshly brewed coffee at local farms (don't worry, there's plenty of tasting). What's next? Pure nature: hot springs, waterfalls and hikes through the palm trees of the Cocora Valley. In Salento, we get ready for a game of tejo (yes, the one with the gunpowder) before flying into the colourful colonial streets of Cartagena. Finally, we spend a relaxing day at the Isla Grande beach club. Crystal clear water. Top atmosphere. The perfect end to a dream holiday.

Welcome to Colombia!

You've made it! Are you ready for the best 9 days of your life? Land in Medellín, make your way to the start hotel, unpack and chill out a bit before you get ready to explore the area. As with all our tours, the first day is for exploring, getting to know your group and orientating yourself. In the evening, we'll all meet up to get to know each other better and meet your Tru Leader (aka your new super knowledgeable best friend!).

We discover Medellin

Good morning! Today we're diving straight into Colombian culture as we set off to explore Medellín! This city has changed dramatically in recent years and is now one of the most popular cities in South America! First stop - Comuna 13, once known as one of the most dangerous communities in the world, has now been completely transformed and offers famous street art and a great atmosphere. We take a look at some of the world-famous murals and of course take a few photos. After a fantastic first day, it's time for dinner and drinks! Today has been an eventful day, so it would be rude to end our stay here without a beer or two...

The rock El Peñol and Guatape

Today we get our endorphin kick! We start the day by climbing the 650 steps to the El Peñol rock. We know what you're thinking: „You've already done your sports quota for the month.“ The view from the top is simply incredible, you shouldn't miss it and the effort is definitely worth it! Then it's on to Guatape, the most colourful city in Colombia and an Instagram hotspot for anyone who likes to take photos for Instagram. We spend the afternoon exploring this city and then head out to discover the local nightlife!

Santa Rosa De Cabal - Hot springs

This morning we drive to Santa Rosa de Cabal! This town is the gateway to Los Nevados National Park and the perfect starting point for us to explore the Cocora Valley. We'll need a couple of hours to reach our next destination, so grab some snacks and get your music ready for karaoke on the bus. Once we arrive, you'll have this afternoon to chill out, do what you want, go exploring or just relax! Tonight we visit some local thermal springs, which are world famous and a must for any visitor. So pack your towels - this evening will be one to remember!

Hiking in the Cocora Valley

Who wants to see palm trees? Today we're going on a hike in the Cocora Valley! This cool place is known for its huge palm trees and great hiking trails. We'll spend the morning exploring and enjoying this incredible place. In the afternoon, we'll head to Salento to have a look around and look for souvenirs!

Visit to a local coffee farm

Good morning! Fancy a coffee? How about we take a look at where your favourite energy boost comes from? Today we'll check out a traditional coffee farm and learn all about the production and processing of the beans. In the afternoon, we'll really get going in Salento. Have you ever heard of Tejo? If not, it's a traditional Colombian game with gunpowder...

City tour through Cartagena

Today we continue travelling and fly to Cartagena. As soon as we arrive in this city, known for its architecture and yellow buildings, we take a walk to learn all about its history. Our local guide will show us the walled old town and the cool Getsemani neighbourhood. The local breweries, markets and live music here make it a great destination - you'll be dancing in the streets in no time.

Beach day at Playa Blanca

It's the last full day of our tour... We're not ready to say goodbye yet! Today is a day for all water lovers... we're heading to Playa Blanca. We will spend the day relaxing, swimming and enjoying every last minute with this great group in this fantastic country.

Our trip comes to an end today, and it was really great! Your Tru Leader will be happy to help you plan the rest of your trip. We're not so good at saying goodbye, so we'll just say: see you soon, we'll see you again. Time flies when you're having fun.

Yes, many of our participants are travelling alone. When you join our trip, you immediately become part of a group and have the opportunity to meet other adventurers. It's a fantastic opportunity to make new friends and share unforgettable experiences together!

You can secure your tour with a deposit of 200 EUR. The balance is not due until 45 days before the start of the tour. However, if you book within 45 days of the tour start date, the full tour price is payable immediately. This means you can plan your trip flexibly and look forward to your adventure!

If you make an enquiry, we will then contact you by phone to discuss all the details for preparing the offer. For example, we will clarify whether you need a flight offer and discuss all the important travel topics with you. You will then receive a personalised offer from your travel consultant by email. This ensures that all your wishes are taken into account and that you are well informed.

After your booking, you will receive a tour confirmation and your flight documents if you have booked the flight through us. You will be given access to a packing list and to online groups where you can exchange ideas with other participants. Your tour guide will contact you around 2-4 weeks before the start of the tour and provide you with final details about your journey and the start of the tour. This way you are well prepared and can network with your fellow travellers in advance.

As the group participants are travelling from many different countries, the flights to and from the tour are booked individually and are not included in the tour price. We will be happy to create and send you a suitable flight offer. Simply make a non-binding enquiry or let us know in the notes when booking and we will send you a flight offer once your booking has been finalised. This way you can ensure that you get the best possible flight for your needs and that your journey goes smoothly.

Latest arrival time:
You can arrive at any time on the first day of the tour. However, a welcome dinner is planned in the evening, which is why you should be at your first accommodation before 6 pm if possible so as not to miss it. This way you can get to know the other participants right at the start and have a relaxed start to your adventure.

Airport transfer:
The airport transfer on your arrival on day 1 is not included in the price. If you would like a transfer, just let us know in the notes field when you book, this can be added for 64.00 EUR. We can also book this later if you are not sure yet.

The airport transfer after the end of the tour is not included in the price, as many participants travel on individually within the country. We recommend travelling with a rucksack and packing light! 10-20kg should be enough. It's usually quite hot and it's no fun lugging around a huge suitcase. You can do your laundry or have it done for little money in most accommodation.
